The Real Origin of Thanksgiving
.We all know the sweet Thanksgiving story taught to us in school, but a few years ago old official Dutch records revealed the dark side of our great American tradition:
In late November of 1637, a force of colonists (with the help of a bunch of Blackwaterish paid Dutch mercenaries) trapped an entire tribe of seven hundred Pequot Indians celebrating their corn harvest in their long house near the mouth of the Mystic River.
Captain John Mason shock and awed the camp with “fire, sword, blunderbuss, and tomahawk.”
Compassionate conservative Christians set the windowless building on fire and slaughted these peaceful Native Americans (unarmed men, women and children) one by one as they tried to escape the blazing inferno. “To see them frying in the fire, and the streams of their blood quenching the same, and the stench was horrible, but the victory seemed a sweet sacrifice to the great delight of the Pilgrims, and they gave praise thereof to God,” said the Cap.

Each year thereafter the Pilgrims celebrated the date as a Day of thanks.
In 1704 Massachusetts Governor Dudley declared a “General Thanksgiving” state holiday to celebrate the Holocaust/Genocide of Red Man and Woman:
“[God’s] infinite Goodness to extend His Favors… In defeating and disappointing…. the expeditions of the Enemy [Indians] against us, And the good Success given us against them, by delivering so many of them into our hands,” said the Gov. Link to article

Eric Holder? Alberto Gonzales will soon be the 2nd worst Attorney General

Oh, dear…Eric Holder is currently making millions defending Chiquita Brands international against the families of their workers who were slaughtered by Chiquita’s union busters- United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia- Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia in Spanish paramilitaries - a designated terrorist organization. Chiquita has already admitted in a criminal case that it paid the AUC around $1.7 million in a 7-year period for protection (???!!!) and that it further provided the AUC with a cache of machine guns as well…Send Holder, guns and money!
Holder thus far has won: No Chiquita official will receive any jail time…the identity of the key officials involved in the assistance to the paramilitaries will be kept under seal and confidential.
Chiquita was fined a mere $25 million over a 5-year period.
According to Mario Iguaran, the Attorney General of Colombia, Chiquita’s payments to the AUC paramilitaries led to the murder of 4000 civilians(!!!!!) and furthered the growth of the paramilitaries throughout Colombia and their violent takeover of numerous Colombian regions.
This is not new:
After a period of financial decline, United Fruit was merged with Eli M. Black’s AMK in 1970 to become the United Brands Company. In 1984, Carl Lindner, Jr. transformed United Brands into the present-day Chiquita Brands International.
The Banana Massacre of 1928
One of the most notorious strikes by United Fruit workers broke out on 12 November 1928 on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, near Santa Marta. Historical estimates place the number of strikers somewhere between 11,000 and 30,000. On 6 December, Colombian Army troops under the command of General Cortés Vargas opened fire on a crowd of strikers gathered in the central square of the town of Ciénaga. The military justified this action by claiming that the strike was subversive and its organizers were Communist revolutionaries. Congressman Jorge Eliécer Gaitán claimed that the army had acted under instructions from the United Fruit Company. The ensuing scandal contributed to President Miguel Abadía Méndez’s Conservative Party being voted out of office in 1930, putting an end to 44 years of Conservative rule in Colombia. The first novel of Álvaro Cepeda Samudio, La Casa Grande, focuses on this event, and the author himself grew up in close proximity to the incident. The climax of García Márquez’s novel One Hundred Years of Solitude is based on the events in Ciénaga.

I recently (4/30/07) had the great honor to lecture on “A Brief History of Rock & Roll” from my book, Puzzling Evidence, to a couple of Music Appreciation classes at the University of Oklahoma. Some very bright kids…Go Sooners! The future of America is bright. Below is their reading assignment:
In this class we will cover Roots, First Golden Age of R & R (1954 to 1959), Age of Teen Idols (1960 to 1964), Second Golden Age of R & R (1964 to 1969)
“What is Rock & Roll?”
In 1956 Meredith Wilson, playwright and composer of The Music Man, called Rock “Simpleminded and stale; the music of idiots. It’s dull, amateurish, immature, trite, banal. It glorifies the mediocre, the nasty, the bawdy, the cheap and the tasteless.”
When Mick Jagger and Keith Richards began to write their own songs their manager Andrew Loog Oldham offer this advice: “Drive parents up a bloody wall.”
An old Baby Boomer hippie once wrote, “R & R is fun, excitement…a simple primitive music in a secret language that parents cannot understand. It must include angst and defiance of authority. Power Freaks have no sense of humor, so Rock should include irony and satire and, of course, a raw backbeat with echoes of tribal drums played at maximum volume. (No synthesizers, pitch-benders or echo chambers, please)”.
