A very bright young man with a strange name became inspired by the words,“I have climbed to the mountain top…”
Barack Obama knew that this would be a long, hard journey, but he wanted to stand on top with Martin and look over to the other side.
But such a quest would require a great slogan…but, Barack found none in The Pet Goat…
Instead he chose:
The Little Engine that Could is story that teaches children the value of optimism and hard work…a metaphor for the American dream.As the little train struggles to climb the steep hill he/or she repeats over and over
I-think-I-can, I-think-I-can, I-think-I-can…
The story of the Little Engine can be traced back to 1910, But the first popular edition was published in 1930 during the OTHER GREAT DEPRESSION.But, “I-think-I-can” does not guarantee success, thus Barack moved one step forward:
The title of Sammy Davis, Jr’s autobiography helped refine Obama’s slogan to “YES I CAN!”
.The Primary Debates
What happens to good people with good ideas…but, no slogan in America today?Dennis Kucinich (Dem) and Ron Paul (GOP) delivered the same message:
“Let’s get out of Iraq! Crack down on the War Profiteers and the greedy Oil Industry and throw screwhead lobbyists out of Washington!”
.But, American Mass-Media today is controlled by six giant corporations who also own big oil, weapons factories, the drug industry and employ most of the lobbyists in Washington, DC.
Dennis and Ron didn’t understand the Big Business slogan: “You’re either for big corporations (and against middle class America) or you’re for the terrorists!”
In any case, Kucinich and Paul were banned from America’s Free Press and the race soon boiled down to 3: Obama, Clinton and McSame.
Hillary
The great Clinton political machine against the little engine that could? No contest!

During the Reagan years, VP Bush Sr (recent CIA head) ran America.
If Hillary had been elected, that would mean 36 consecutive years of Bush/ Clinton rule of America. Is that democracy?

But Obama kept chugging along with a positive message to the middle class:
“Change! Yes I can, Yes you can, YES WE CAN!”…and the Clintons soon fell behind.
.The problem? McCain and Clinton shared the same slogan:
“I am experienced. I will be ready on Day One!”
But the American public asked, “Ready for what? More wars? More lies? More economic pain for the Middle Class?”
Soon…John and Hillary both claimed to be the change candidate.
Ripping off your opponent’s slogan? Political Suicide!
Hillary Clinton Shattered the Glass Ceiling…God Bless her!
FINALLY…From now on, any qualified American woman is a legitimate presidential candidate.The Gop hoped that most women were as dumb as their Stepford wives, but a majority refused to support an unqualified idiot with a vagina like Sarah Palin.
Unfortunately, as Hillary’s numbers declined she turned her campaign over to her advisors who urged her to go negative: “Who will answer that phone at 3 AM?”, Rev Wright, Sniper Fire-gate, etc, etc, etc…

And, the Little Engine That Could kept chugging on…
Until there was only Obama and McCain.
President Bush stabbed McCain in the back during the 2000 primary,
but now warmly embraced his old friend…
.And John hired the Bush people to stab Obama in the back.
Of course, to become the GOP nominee McCain had to reverse himself on every “Maverick” issue he ever believed in:
.“Torture is good…Tax cuts for billionaires are great…I oppose the immigration bill that that idiot McCain wrote!” etc, etc, etc….
Why McCain?
Today the GOP consists of two groups:Corporate Sponsors and Rapture-Ready Racists. Romney pleased the rich, but he is a Mormon…many republicans don’t consider that a valid religion.
Huckabee pleased the fundamentalist fungi, but Big Business didn’t trust him.
.Guiliani turned out to be a One-Trick-Pony:
as Joe Biden pointed out, “Every sentence from Rudy consists of a noun, a verb and 9/11.”
And, thus…only Johnny remained standing…But wasn’t he too old?

.Age wasn’t an issue for the GOP as they launched a massive Fear and Smear campaign against Obama…

But, the Little Engine That Could continued to chug up the mountain with a positive message… And, HE WON!
The moral? Every 30 years or so the American public pays attention and forces the slimey greedheads to scurry back under their rock.Ike (a real republican) warned us about these people in his farewell address.
